Abstract: The objective of this project is to study the feasibility of implementing predictive maintenance in the critical engines of Petropar's alcohol industry in the sectors of Feeding Table, Boiler and Water Collection. A data collection was carried out, pointing out, among other aspects, the typical characteristics and faults present in engines. Then, taking into consideration the most frequent failures, the predictive techniques and their associated inspection processes were studied. From this study, the vibration and thermography techniques were selected to carry out the inspections. Subsequently, vibration and thermography tests were performed on the engines and their power boards. The critical motors of the sectors mentioned above were selected, analyzing the thermal images with the SmartView software and the vibration ranges present with the standard IS0 10816 according to the frequency spectrum. Misaligned motors, contacts and hot bearings were found. Finally, an economic evaluation of the project was carried out by means of a cost-benefit analysis considering the implementation costs and the reduction of losses due to production stoppages. It is concluded that the implementation of vibration and thermography technologies in the 3 critical sectors of the industrial plant is a technically and economically viable alternative to increase plant availability and reduce losses and unscheduled shutdowns.
