Abstract: Documentation management is one of the most important point of the institution, maintaining the workflow in an organized way helps reducing the time that those processes take and ensures success in handling documents. For the development of this project, metrics were established to evaluate the document management software tool that best suits the needs of the institution as collected in surveys; then a plan was designed that describes in stages the way in which the previously selected system was implemented, and finally an impact evaluation of the implementation was made. The software selected according to the metrics that were defined was the Alfresco document management system, each stage of the implementation methodology was executed correctly, so the system is currently used in the Faculty of Science and Technology. The impact evaluation was divided into two sections, first the evaluation of the achievement of the aims, where the surveys showed that the aims of the implementation were 100% fulfilled, and then the evaluation of the acceptance of the users through a satisfaction survey which resulted in the system implemented has a high acceptance rate.
